This particular style of chest of drawers is constructed on legs. Because of this design technique, there ends up being additional space below the chest of drawers itself that otherwise would have gone to waste.
I myself now buy online or from the local auction house in order to get a well made piece of furniture at a good price.
Do you know that there are many usages of a chest of drawers in your home? You may take it for granted now, but a good set of drawers can take you a long way, from a disorganized and cluttered home, to a more organized, well-preserved and well-designed living space. How do you do this? Of course, this can only be done with a few additions to your home furniture.
There are many uses for chests of drawers in the home including for storing clothing and accessories, keeping toys organised and tidy, storing kitchen, living room and dining room equipment and of course everyone has a junk drawer.
Bedroom chests can vary in size and style but usually have a combination of smaller drawers sat over larger drawers. Most choices of bedroom chest will be known as, for example a 2 over 4 chest or a 3 over 4 chest. When purchasing a chest keep this in mind as the top layer of drawers will usually be smaller, if you require all of the drawers to be the same size aim towards getting a chest that is just a 4 drawer chest. Smaller drawers can be useful for socks, underwear, rolled up ties and even make-up and accessories. There are also a wide variety of drawer separators on the market now designed specifically for organising smaller items within one drawer.
A modern day Chest of Drawers will quite likely be made of something like Chipboard or MDF. Chipboard or particle board (called by different names in different countries), is made up of tiny chips of wood all glued together and pressed by machine into flat boards, usually 12mm or 18mm thick. These wood chips come from unused or unusable sized pieces of wood at the timber mill and also from recycling old wooden furniture. These boards can be veneered and are used in flat pack furniture, where the purchaser buys the furniture and has to assemble it by their self. Even buying ready made furniture from a store, there is a possibility that it has been delivered to the shop as flatpack and has been assembled by the staff.
